These two are real, honest human beings, who write and record music for the sheer love, art, and camaraderie of it, but prefer that it be heard and enjoyed by the likes of you. Ron and Tracy of Second October take time out of their “professional” lives to converge once a month in a private studio somewhere in South Carolina to do two things. First, they strive to create sonic atmospheres that listeners don’t normally encounter in their everyday lives, much like those that could be experienced on the big screen, but where lush sounds and musical structures make pictures unnecessary. Secondly, they continue to pay homage to the artists that influence their musical creations such as Depeche Mode, the Cure, INXS, Nine Inch Nails, and others, with covers appearing on every album they release. In fact, some have legitimately mistaken Ron’s voice for Dave Gahan’s.

Listeners of Second October’s age will be reminded of a time when the advent of the portable synthesizer made new music exciting and incredibly creative, while still discovering a modern edge to their musical creations. New younger listeners will discover something different and more challenging than many of the contrived and formulaic offerings available today. No matter the age of the listener, Second October’s music will have a transporting quality for its audience.
